In answer to your query about my dog: It is a Chinese Foo Dog whic WAS mine but now is cared for by my Ex-Wife. I travel to much to provide proper care and feeding. Sad but he's better off with her. (Too bad I wasn't! LOL)

Oh, one more thought. Lake Pontchartrain is a brackish estuary. It is the largest salt water lake in the US. One must remember that much of New Orleans is below sea level. The parishes around Lake Pontchartrain are also below sea level.
